[3. CITY COUNCIL MEMBER APPOINTMENT – WARD 4]
THE MINUTES CARRY FORTH. AT THIS TIME DURING THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE WE WILL BEGIN AGAIN TO DISCUSS APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE MR. BRETT SMITH HERE AND IN WORK FOR THIS PERSON WILL SERVE FOR THE LAST FOUR MONTHS TERM WHICH WILL TAKE US TO THE FIRST MEETING IN NOVEMBER.TONIGHT I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE MS. JENNIFER STEPHENS.
JENNIFER HAS LIVED IN WARD FOUR FOR 28 YEARS AND SHE HAS BEEN THE TREASURER OF THE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION.
SHE HAS ALSO BEEN INVOLVED IN OUR LOCAL TENNIS ASSOCIATION AND AUBURN COMMUNITY TENNIS ASSOCIATION TRICK SHE IS PARTICIPATED IN JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LAKE COUNTY AS WELL AS GOING THROUGH THE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR PROFESSIONALLY SHE HAS WORKED FOR 21 YEARS AS THE SENIOR DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND OPERATIONS AT AUBURN ADVANCEMENT AND HAS BEEN THE ASSISTANT TREASURER WITH THE AUBURN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.
I DO BELIEVE THAT JENNIFER WOULD BE AN OUTSTANDING MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL. SHE DOES NOT WISH TO RUN FOR THE
SEAT FOR THE ELECTION IN AUGUST. >> SPEAKER: SECOND.
>> SPEAKER: ANY OTHER NOMINATIONS?
>> SPEAKER: MR. MAYOR, I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE [INAUDIBLE]
>> SPEAKER: SECOND. >> SPEAKER: MOTION AND SECOND.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SOME COMMENTS.
>> SPEAKER: [INAUDIBLE] NO INTENTION TO RUN EITHER.
BEING UNDER THE REDISTRICTING HE IS NEW TO WARD WORD FOR WHICH GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE REPRESENTED BY ONE OF THEIR OWN AND I'M CONFIDENT IN HIS ABILITY AND DECISION-MAKING.
FINE BUSINESS ACUMEN I THINK HE WOULD -- [INAUDIBLE] IF SOMEBODY LOVES AUBURN I THINK HE WOULD BE GREAT AND DO A FINE JOB.
HIS DESIRE FOR THIS POSITION. >> SPEAKER: ANY OTHER COMMENTS ON EITHER ONE OF OUR NOMINEES? IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WHO WOULD
LIKE TO NOMINATE SOMEONE? >> SPEAKER: I HAVE A COUPLE OF COMMENTS. FOR THOSE OF YOU IN THE PUBLIC I WASN'T HERE LAST COUNCIL MEETING MY FAMILY AND I HAD A LONG PLANNED VACATION SO I APOLOGIZE TO THE MEMBERS THAT THIS ISSUE HAS CONTINUED IN THE WAY THAT IT HAS.
UPON MY RETURN I MADE OBVIOUSLY THE EFFORT TO CORRESPOND WITH EACH OF THESE CANDIDATES AND MAY I JUST TO SAY HOW OUTSTANDING ALL FOUR OF THEM ARE. I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL FINE CANDIDATES FOR THIS ROLE. I THANK THEM FOR THEIR WILLINGNESS TO SIGN UP FOR THIS SHORT-TERM AND AGAIN, I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH ALL OF THEM.
>> SPEAKER: ANYONE ELSE? >> SPEAKER: I HAD THE PLEASURE SIT DOWN WITH MS. STEVENS LAST FRIDAY AND REALLY KIND OF HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK HER SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCEDURAL ASPECTS OF BEING ON COUNCIL AND INDICATED THAT SHE WAS NOT REALLY AWARE OF WHAT HER RESPONSIBILITIES WERE FOR REACHING OUT TO THE COUNCILMEMBERS WHICH IS WHY SHE HAD NOT AND HAD NOT SUBMITTED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
WHICH IS WHY I THINK WE ALL RECEIVED SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. I THINK HER BACKGROUND IN THE COMMUNITY IN FINANCE AND HER KNOWLEDGE OF THE BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY -- AND FOR THE INTERIM FOR DIVERSITY TO THE COUNCIL.
I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE MY NOD. >> SPEAKER: ANYONE ELSE?
HOW DID WE DO THIS LAST TIME? >> SPEAKER: ARE MICROPHONES ARE NOT WORKING SO WE CAN FIGURE OUT ON THE RECORDING IT'S REALLY UP TO YOU AND THE PLEASURE OF THE GROUP IF YOU WANT TO DO VOICE OR
HAND VOTE. >> SPEAKER: I DO BELIEVE THERE WILL BE VOTES FOR BOTH OF THESE CANDIDATES.
WE WILL START OFF WITH MS. STEVENS.
ALL IN FAVOR SAY AYE OF JENNIFER STEPHENS PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND.
THAT'S FIVE. >> SPEAKER: I GOT EVERYBODY.

MS. STEVENS I'M SURE MS. CROUSE WILL GET HER IN AND GET HER
SWORN IN AS SOON AS WE CAN. >> SPEAKER: ABSOLUTELY.
