[3. HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION.]

THE HOME MEETING OF MAY 16 OF 2023. ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS OF THOSE MINUTES? IF NOT, DOES EVERYBODY MOVE TO IMPROVE?

>>SO MOVED.>THANK YOU. I HAVE A MOTION AND THE SECOND. ANYBODY ELSE HAVE COMMENTS?

ON FAVOR SAY I. >>I. >>ANY POST? THEN THE MINUTES ARE APPROVED. HISTORIC CONSERVATION, THIS IS ONE OF A COUPLE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS THAT IS THE MAYOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE THESE NOMINATIONS.

IN THIS POSITION, I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE MS. SARAH COLEMAN. >>SECOND.

>>THERE IS A ÃÃSARAH IS A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSOR AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY AND I WOULD JUST LIKE TO READ A COUPLE COMMENTS THAT SHE MADE IN HER APPLICATION.

IN ADDITION TO LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CITY'S PAST, I AM EAGER TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE PERSPECTIVE TO THE AUBURN'S HISTORIC PRESERVATION TO THOUGHTFULLY ENGAGE WITH HISTORIC PLACES WHICH I DEVELOPED FOR MY RESEARCH.

SO SHE SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN HISTORY AS WELL AS A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE.

SHE TEACHES AT AUBURN UNIVERSITY AND WE APPRECIATE HER WILLINGNESS TO DO AND SERVE THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION.S THERE ANY FURTHER COMMENTS OR THOUGHTS?

[4. QUESTIONS ON THE AGENDA.]

OKAY. ALL IN FAVOR, PLEASE SAY I. >>I.

>>ANY POST? THE MOTION CARRIED AND AGAIN, WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO STATE MANNERS. FOR SERVING ON THE HISTORIC RESERVATION COMMISSION.

ALL RIGHT, QUESTIONS ON TONIGHT'S AGENDA? ANY QUESTIONS ON THE COUNCIL?

OKAY. I KNOW WE HAVE IN ADDITION ÃÃ >>RIGHT.

I HAVE ADDED YOU AND HAVE GOTTEN YOU ON THE DAIS. ITEM 11 A. ANOTHER ITEM OF BUSINESS ASKING FOR TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE ON TEMPORARY MAGNOLIA AND WHAT THIS REALLY MEANS IS FROM THE BANK DRIVEWAY DOWN TO GATE STREET. WE ÃÃSTORM WAS APPROACHED MONTHS AGO BY THE GROUP GREAT RACE AND THERE'S AN ALUMNI EVOLVED THAT'S IN SAINT AUGUSTINE FLORIDA AND GOES ON MAINLY TWO LANE ROADS WITH VENTED RACECARS AND THEY WANT TO PASS THROUGH AUBURN FOR LUNCH AND THEY WILL BE OVERNIGHTING IN BIRMINGHAM.

IT'S ON SUNDAY, JUNE 25. AND SO YOU DID A TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE RESOLUTION.

WE USUALLY DO ALL PARADES AND EVERYTHING AT ONCE IN LATE FEBRUARY, BUT WE WANTED TO BRING THIS FORWARD TO YOU. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THE STAFF HAS WORKED FOR HANDILY ON AND WE ASKED FOR COLLEGE STREET CLOSURE. IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR US TO DO.

SO WE ARE TRYING THIS AND THERE ALSO BE A DOWNTOWN EMERGENCY EVENT IN DECEMBER THAT HAS THE SAME PARTIAL CLOSURE. BUT THIS SUNDAY IS A LITTLE LESS DIFFICULT FOR THE CLOSURE OF THE HOME. WE ARE ASKING IT WITHIN THE RESOLUTION THAT WE WILL SEE IN 8 AM Ã4 PM. IT MAY CLOSE A LITTLE LATER THAN 8 AM, BUT WE NEED TO GET CARS OFF THE STREET. WHILE THERE FOLKS EAT, PUBLIC CAN COME THROUGH AND VIEW THE CARS, SIT IN THE CARS, TALK TO THE DRIVERS. IT'S NOT COSTING ANYBODY ANYTHING OTHER THAN A STREET CLOSURE. SO I ADDED THIS TO MY PRINT WE COULD'VE ADDED IT ON THE 20TH OF AGENDA, BUT I FOR THOSE A LITTLE CLOSER TO THE EVENT.

SO YES, WE HAVE GIVEN THEM A PERMIT FOR THIS. BUT WE USUALLY GET COUNCIL AUTHORIZATION. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THEY CAME WITH AFTER THE BROUGHT THE RESOLUTION TO YOU. WE WILL DO THAT AT THE END OF THE MEETING.

>>ANY QUESTION FOR THE CITY BOARD? >>THERE ARE PICTURES IN YOUR PACKET ON WHAT ONE LOOKS LIKE AND THE RACE MAP ALSO. TO SEE KIND OF WHAT THEY ARE

DOING. >>MEGAN, IF WE WERE GOING TO VIEW THIS, WHAT WOULD BE THE OPTIMAL VIEWING TIME? [LAUGHTER]

>>WELL, THERE IS A SCHEDULE GREAT RACE.COM. AND ALSO, THERE'S A LITTLE BIT OF A SCHEDULE ON THAT. THEY LEFT THE STAGE IN FLORIDA. THEY ACTUALLY WILL BE IN TIFTON GEORGIA OVERNIGHTING AND THEN COMING ÃÃCOMING INTO AUBURN AT LUNCHTIME.

SO ÃÃCOLLEGE STREET, THEY WILL COME STRAIGHT UP U.S. 29 AS MY UNDERSTANDING AGAIN.

THEY KEEP THEM OFF OF THE INTERSTATE TO MY UNDERSTANDING. YOU WILL FIND THEM AND THEN WE WILL TURN THEM RIGHT ONTO MAGNOLIA AND THEN ALSO IT WILL BE QUITE A SIGHT THAT THEY START LEAVING AT 3:30 AND PULLING THEM BACK OUT AND STRAIGHT UP COLLEGE STREET AND TOWARDS BIRMINGHAM. AND SO ÃÃYES, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO VIEW THEM.

ONE OF YOU IN PARTICULAR LIVES ON THE ROUTE AND WILL HAVE A HOME VIEW OF THEM PASSING BY.

[LAUGHTER] WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE A BIG DISRUPTION TO TRAFFIC AND IT'S A SUNDAY AFTERNOON. IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A NICE EVENT FOR THE COMMUNITY AND THEY APPRECIATE THE ECONOMIC IMPACT THAT IT WILL BRING BY

STOPPING BY. >>THIS IS DISPLAYING THEIR PLASTIC CARS?

THAT'S ALL THEY ARE DOING? >>YES. >>SO NO TYPE OF EVENT OR

ANYTHING PICK >>THEY WILL BE HAVING LUNCH AND SETTING A FEW THINGS UP ON THE STREET RIGHT THERE. BUT WE OPTED TO DO THIS AND TRY THIS OUT.

[00:05:05]

WE WILL HAVE IT BLOCKED W BARRI ALL GET IN.

[LAUGHTER] SO, AND SO, WE ARE TRYING TO, OUT OF RESPECT FOR MOVING

TRAFFIC IN AUBURN TO DO A SMALL ROAD CLOSURE. >>ALL RI
